(57) [Problem] To provide a substance that induces secretion of an antimicrobial peptide in a living body, that is, a clinically effective antimicrobial agent, and a therapeutic agent for a disease caused by bacteria or viruses. SOLUTION: This is a substance that induces secretion of an antimicrobial peptide in a living body, specifically, an antimicrobial peptide secretion inducer containing as an active ingredient at least one kind of branched chain essential amino acid selected from isoleucine, leucine or valine. Further, the present invention is an antibacterial agent containing, as an active ingredient, at least one kind of branched chain essential amino acid selected from isoleucine, leucine or valine, which has an action of inducing secretion of an antibacterial peptide from Paneth cells in the digestive tract epithelium. |
