(57) [Problem] To introduce a hydroxyl group into a tricyclic aromatic compound which is an environmental pollutant derived from petroleum or coal tar and convert it into a substance easily decomposed by microorganisms. SOLUTION: An aromatic ring dioxygenase is reacted with a tricyclic aromatic compound to produce a hydroxylated tricyclic aromatic compound. |
