PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photochromic material comprising a novel diarylethene compound having excellent repetition durability of a photochromic reaction and exhibiting excellent fading by heat treatment, and a method for producing a photochromic material comprising a novel diarylethene compound. And a recording and display medium using a photochromic material comprising a novel diarylethene compound. SOLUTION: The photochromic material is characterized by comprising a diarylethene compound having a specific structure, and the method for producing a photochromic material comprises a compound obtained by performing a coupling reaction between a specific thioferrobonic acid and a specific phenylethynylbenzene. The above-mentioned diarylethene compound is obtained by a coupling reaction with perfluorocyclopentene, and the recording display medium has a recording layer made of a material containing the above-mentioned photochromic material. |
