PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose derivative in the vicinity of the molecular surface of cellulose as a cellulose derivative which can be expected to have novel properties such as adsorbability of dyes, metals, suspended matters, etc. and crosslinkability and gelling ability by chelation. The present invention provides a method for producing a cellulose derivative (cellulose levulinate) to which a carbonyl group having mobility has been imparted, and a cellulose levulinate obtained thereby. SOLUTION: Cellulose and levulinic acid are reacted in a tosyl chloride-soluble solvent in the presence of tosyl chloride at a temperature between the melting point and the boiling point of the solvent to obtain cellulose levulinate. |
