abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 4-nitroaniline derivative whose 4-position is nitrated by nitration of an aniline derivative with good selectivity and yield. In the presence of a solvent and a nitrite, a compound represented by the general formula (1): (Wherein, R 1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms; R 2 represents an acyl group or a group represented by —SO 2 R 3 . Here, R 3 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a phenyl group which may be substituted. Wherein the aniline derivative represented by the formula) is reacted with nitric acid at an internal temperature of 102 ° C. or higher.
