PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polylactic acid-based biodegradable resin composition from which a molded article such as a film having a large tear strength and tensile elongation can be obtained, and to have good compatibility with the polylactic acid-based composition. Provided is a polylactic acid / starch-based biodegradable resin composition further improved in biodegradability by further blending modified starch. (1) A high-strength biodegradable resin composition comprising a sugar alcohol in an amount of 0.5 to 5 parts by weight and a benzoic acid in an amount of 1 to 10 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of polylactic acid. (2) The high-strength biodegradation according to the above (1), wherein a modified starch obtained by blending starch, a plasticizer and water is blended in a ratio of 50 to 230 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of polylactic acid.
