titleOfInvention Engine exhaust purification device
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To maintain stability of an aimed air-fuel ratio for emission of a substance having a reduced purification ability attached to a catalyst. SOLUTION: A means (11) for estimating the adhesion amount of a substance having a low purification ability to a catalyst (7) provided in an exhaust passage of an engine, and a decrease in purification ability attached to the catalyst based on the estimated adhesion amount. Determining means (11) for determining whether it is time to release the substance, and temperature raising means (raising the catalyst temperature when the timing to release the purification-reducing substance adhering to the catalyst is reached by the determining means) 6) and the air-fuel ratio control means (5, 11, 1) for maintaining the exhaust air-fuel ratio of the catalyst near the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio when it is time to release the purifying ability-decreasing substance also attached to the catalyst. (4, 15) and means (5, 15) for enriching the exhaust air-fuel ratio from the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio after the exhaust air-fuel ratio is maintained near the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio by the air-fuel ratio control means.
