abstract |
(57) [Problem] To provide a method for manufacturing a small-section medical device, which is extremely difficult to produce accurately by laser cutting a small tube. A method of manufacturing a medical device having a small cross section from a generally tubular workpiece includes the steps of generating a laser beam used for cutting, penetrating a surface of the tubular workpiece having a first predetermined outer diameter. Forming a pattern cut around the periphery of the workpiece by cutting with the laser beam, radially compressing the tubular workpiece to reduce the outer diameter of the workpiece from the first predetermined diameter. Reducing the tubular workpiece to a temperature sufficient to heat set the tubular workpiece and fixing the second outer diameter of the tubular workpiece. Providing a medical device. |
