abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene polymorphism in a human neurokinin 1 receptor gene and its use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. The present invention provides a nucleic acid portion derived from the neurokinin 1 receptor (TACR1) locus of the human genome, comprising a polymorphic site. Allele specific primers and probes that hybridize to these sites and the regions adjacent to these sites are also provided. The invention further provides a method of analyzing nucleic acids from an individual or a population. Nucleic acids, primers, and probes It is useful in forensic medicine, paternity testing, applications involving drugs, such as correlation of phenotypic traits with polymorphisms, and genetic analysis, such as genetic mapping of such phenotypic traits.
