abstract | (57) [Summary] (Modified) [Problem] To provide a new PHA. In addition, the present invention provides a method for producing a microorganism using a microorganism capable of significantly reducing undesired monomer units and obtaining the PHA in high yield. Further, the present invention provides the charge control agent used in the electrostatic image developing toner, which contributes more to environmental preservation and the like, and has high performance and improved dispersibility. A novel PH having a 3-hydroxythienoylalkanoic acid represented by the formula 1 as a monomer unit using thienoylalkanoic acid or thienoylalkane as a raw material. A microorganism capable of synthesizing A is cultured in a medium containing the raw material, and the PHA produced in the cultured cells is extracted and collected. A charge control agent comprising a PHA having a monomer unit represented by any one of formulas 1 and 12, A toner binder containing the charge controlling agent, an electrostatic image developing toner, and an image forming method and an image forming apparatus using the electrostatic image developing toner.
