abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To provide an sd1 gene involved in plant semi-dwarfing and a method for plant semi-dwarfing using the gene. SOLUTION: The present inventors have conceived that the sd1 gene is a C20 oxidase gene, and isolated and identified a rice counterpart of the C20 oxidase gene of Arabidopsis. As a result, the rice sd1 gene was found to be a gene encoded by a novel C20 oxidase. Further studies have revealed that mutations in this gene lead to plant semi-dwarfism. Use of plant sd1 gene can increase the yield of plants such as useful crops and ornamental plants, add aesthetic value by dwarfing, and increase the yield by marker selection and efficient breeding of dwarfed plants It is greatly expected to become.
