titleOfInvention | Cyanine dyes and their synthesis |
abstract | (57) Abstract: a cyanine dye having the formula (II), wherein R 1 -R 8 are each independently hydrogen, a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group, and it has a hydrophilic substituent It is selected from the group consisting of C 0 -C 4 alkyl groups. R 11 and R 12 are selected to include a free or protected thiol, amine or hydroxyl substituent capable of reacting with the target molecule by a nucleophilic substitution mechanism. This dye is useful for labeling various target molecules. Methods for synthesizing suitable heterocyclic and indole derivatives as precursors to the aforementioned cyanine dyes are also described.
