(57) [Summary]nExtensive conservation of the viral envelope protein gp41 of the Fab 'fragment of Mab 2F5, a neutralizing agent that is an effective neutralizer for both laboratory strains and the primary clinical isolates of many isogenic strains of HIV-1 Both complexed and uncomplexed crystal structures with the peptide sequence ELDKWAS have been solved and the properties of the peptide-protein interaction determined. In connection with such a determination, the peptidomimetic is controlled into a three-dimensional structure that confers increased antigenicity to its epitope sequence. |
