(57) SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides methods and pharmaceutical compositions for inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, and methods and methods for treating and / or reducing the risk of diseases and conditions affected by inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase. A pharmaceutical composition is provided. The method comprises administering to a patient in need of treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from dihydroxy open acid and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof in a delayed release pharmaceutical dosage form. Wherein the substantial release of the compound is delayed until after the dosage form has passed through the stomach. |
