titleOfInvention | Bacterial identification |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for identifying bacteria in a sample.nSOLUTION: One primer consisting essentially of one or more oligonucleotides having the sequence 5′GCGATTTTCYGAAYGGGGRAACCC, and a pair of primers consisting of a second primer consisting essentially of the oligonucleotide having the sequence 5′TTCGCCTTTCCCTCACGGTACT. To amplify the portion of 23S rDNA present in the sample and then hybridize the resulting amplicons to each of these amplicons to identify the bacteria that may be present in the sample to identify bacteria that may be present in the sample. By probing the set, the bacteria in the sample that is characterized to be tested are identified.nEFFECTS The present method is effective for at least eight, and even more, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococcus spp. ), Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp., Pneumococci and coagulase-negative staphylococci. One or more novel oligonucleotides for use in this test are immobilized on a solid support and incorporated into diagnostic test kits for use in hospital and other settings. |
