Regulation of protein levels in eukaryotes |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to novel compounds containing a ubiquitination recognition element and a protein binding element. The present invention also relates to the use of this compound for modulating the level and / or activity of a target protein. The compounds are useful for treating diseases such as infections, inflammatory conditions, cancer, and genetic diseases. The compounds are also useful as insecticides and herbicides. The present invention relates to a new class of molecules that uses targeted modification and / or degradation of proteins to modulate the concentration and / or activity of a selected target protein. This is achieved by the construction of a bifunctional molecule. This control of protein levels is achieved using exogenous molecules that can effect ubiquitination of a given protein. This ubiquitinated protein is targeted for intracellular degradation via normal cellular pathways. |
