(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to a general method for detecting pathogenic bacterial strains harboring a type III secretion system. More particularly, the present invention relates to such a method as applied to the pathogen Bordetella pertussis. Furthermore, the present invention relates to newly identified polynucleotides in said regions, harmful polypeptides encoded by them, and the use of said polynucleotides and polypeptides. More particularly, the polynucleotides and polypeptides according to the invention relate to deleterious effector proteins associated with the type III secretion system of B. pertussis, which are particularly suitable for vaccine purposes. |
