SUMMARY A pants-type refastenable disposable absorbent article (20) includes an absorbent chassis (28) and a pair of side panels (48). The absorbent chassis includes a pair of side edges (30) opposite in a lateral direction and a pair of waist edges opposite in a vertical direction. A side panel (48) extends between the side edges (30) of the absorbent chassis to provide a waist opening and a pair of leg openings in the pants-type disposable absorbent article (20). Each of the opposing side panels (48) includes a first side edge (52), the first side edge (52) being a back waist region of the absorbent article to provide a permanent bond (76). At (24) it is permanently attached to the side edge (30) of the absorbent chassis.
