(57) [Summary]nPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating an aneurysm, which comprises a step of delivering a hydrogel containing a therapeutic agent for occluding at least a part of a neck of the aneurysm to the aneurysm.nSOLUTION: The hydrogel for aneurysm treatment acts as a carrier for both a radiopaque agent capable of visualizing the hydrogel under fluoroscopy and a therapeutic agent such as one or more human growth factors. The hydrogel is delivered via a catheter to the interior of the aneurysm, where it reaches body temperature or is exposed to body fluids, increasing the viscosity of the hydrogel to prevent blood flow to the aneurysm. In addition to preventing blood flow to the aneurysm, delivering human growth factor to the site of the aneurysm promotes cell layer growth around the neck of the aneurysm. The hydrogel may be of the type that will dissolve over time, or may remain permanently as an agent occluding within the aneurysm. |
