titleOfInvention Absorbent article with extensible cover
abstract (57) [Summary] The integrated absorbent article has a vertical article length and a horizontal article length. The article includes an absorbent composite having first and second longitudinally facing end regions, laterally facing side regions, a bodyside surface, an outwardly facing surface, and a first longitudinal end edge. including. The absorbent composite further includes a substantially liquid impermeable back sheet layer, a liquid permeable top sheet layer, and a retaining portion sandwiched between the back sheet and the top sheet layer. An extensible outer cover is coupled to extend over a major portion of the outwardly facing surface of the absorbent composite. Preferably, the extensible outer cover is capable of producing a predetermined elongation when under tension. The extensible outer cover also desirably is capable of undergoing a predetermined, sustained deformation when subjected to tension and then left loose after removing the applied tension. In certain aspects, the outer cover can provide at least about 1 cm of elongation when subjected to a tension of 30 gmf per inch.
