abstract (57) [Summary] The present invention relates to a sprout exhibiting a characteristic of a higher germination rate when grown in the dark, and exhibiting an improved growth of sprout when cultivated under low light intensity. More specifically, the present invention relates to plant cells and whole plants containing a nucleic acid sequence encoding a Coil domain in addition to a sequence encoding a wild-type COP1 gene. The plant according to the present invention shows small leaves that remain closed during germination in the dark, and after germination, seedlings cultivated under low temperatures are less likely to yellow. Further, the present invention relates to a plant breeding method capable of transferring these desired properties to a wild-type plant.
