titleOfInvention | Optical sensor based on oxidase |
abstract | SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention discloses an enzyme-based optical sensor for detecting blood components that are substrates for oxidases, the sensor being thin and rapidly responding, optical, oxygen sensing. A multilayer structure featuring layers is advantageously used. The sensor comprises: a) an enzyme layer containing an oxidase or enzyme cascade in a water and oxygen permeable matrix; b) an oxygen sensing layer containing a luminescent dye in a light permeable, oxygen permeable matrix, which is preferably C) deposited on a light transmissive substrate in order. Embodiments of the present invention may further include a rapidly hydrating gas permeable cover, or spacer, layer deposited on the enzyme layer. Particulate filler material may be included in the oxygen sensing layer in an effective amount to reduce the light scattering effects of the sample. The sensors of the present disclosure can be used to detect creatinine and other enzyme oxidizable analytes such as glucose, lactate or cholesterol. |
