titleOfInvention | Molecular targeting of large vessels to endothelium using EPCR |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nEndothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) is found mainly on large vascular endothelial cells. EPCR translocates from the plasma membrane surface to the nucleus. Molecules that bind to the EPCR can be transported from the plasma membrane surface to the nucleus. These molecules include antibodies to EPCR and activated protein C. Protein C also binds to EPCR and is internalized by endothelial cells but does not enter the nucleus. Thus, EPCR transfer from the plasma membrane to the nucleus involves transfer of nucleic acids (eg, DNA), proteins (eg, transcription factors), diagnostic agents or other types of drugs to the nucleus of endothelial cells, especially endothelial cells on large blood vessels. Provides a means for delivery. Conjugates of the substance to be delivered to the nucleus can be formed by ionic or covalent bonds. These conjugated antibodies are transported to the nucleus by EPCR. |
