(57) SUMMARY An apparatus and method for securely attaching a medical device to a desired tissue of a patient body using a fixative is provided. Such a medical device would include a locating wire or tissue acquisition device, such as a biopsy device. In the case of a tissue acquisition device, the inventor has found significant advantages in ensuring that the distal end of the tissue acquisition device is affixed to a particular tissue target area. For example, such a solution separates the imaging environment from the treatment environment so that expensive and often unavailable imaging devices, such as stereo array imaging devices, need not be used. In a preferred embodiment, a binder such as an adhesive, surgical glue or solvent is used as the fixative. |
