titleOfInvention Disposable absorbent article with integrally formed and elastic confinement flaps and cuffs
abstract (57) Abstract: An absorbent article (10) comprising a back sheet layer (30) having a pair of laterally opposed longitudinally extending side edges (20). Each side edge has an outwardly concave distal side profile (15) located in a defined leg opening area (17) in the middle (16) of the side edge. Each concave side edge profile (15) has a selected longitudinal extent along a length dimension (26) of the article (10). The liquid-permeable top sheet layer (28) is superposed on the back sheet layer (30) and connected in a facing relationship, and the absorber (32) is placed between the top sheet layer (28) and the back sheet layer (30). It is sandwiched. The separately prepared gusset / flap composite member (19) is connected to at least one of the back sheet layer and the top sheet layer along each leg opening area (17). The gusset flap member (19) comprises a leg gusset area (142) and a confinement flap area (144) and is uniquely configured to improve leakage prevention, fit and comfort.
