titleOfInvention | Method for producing mannitol using immobilized microorganisms |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to the production of mannitol by the bioconversion with the aid of immobilized microorganisms, and to the use of mannitol and by-products formed in the conversion process. In the method, a solution comprising a substrate convertible to mannitol is provided for contact with solid carrier particles comprising viable mannitol-forming microbial cells immobilized in and / or on the particles. The solution is reconditioned during a continuous conversion step to convert most of the substrate to mannitol. |
