(57) [Summary]nA purified full-length cDNA molecule encoding a putative serine kinase enzyme (PSKH-1), and the cDNA in a recombinant host cell to produce substantially purified PSKH-1 itself. The expression is disclosed. Inactivation of PSKH-1 pre-mRNA or PSKH-1 mRNA terminates DNA synthesis and cell division. Also disclosed herein are ribozymes capable of cleaving PSKH-1 pre-mRNA or PSKH-1 mRNA and thus inactivating translation of PSKH-1. Also disclosed herein are ribozymes with hammerhead and hairpin-like motifs and various compositions containing the same. The ribozyme composition is useful for treating diseases or medical conditions characterized by abnormal cell proliferation or growth, such as cancer, and non-malignant or medical conditions, such as autoimmune diseases, allograft rejection, and atherosclerosis. Used in treating affected mammalian patients. |
