abstract | (57) [Summary]nBy copolymerizing a hydrophilic monomer, such as water-soluble N-vinylpyrrolidone, with a water-insoluble monomer, such as N-vinylcarbazole, a derivative thereof, or a water-insoluble derivative of N-vinylpyrrolidone, the hydrophobic region and Injectable or implantable materials for soft tissue augmentation are produced, including hydrogels that have both hydrophilic regions. Also suitable for injection in direct contact with body tissue are hydrogels prepared by crosslinking polyvinylpyrrolidone. The hydrogel may be either solid or consist of particles. The hydrogel may also be encapsulated in a flexible porous or non-porous coating. |
