titleOfInvention Method for producing sulfenimide
abstract (57) [Summary]nPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a complicated and inefficient process in a conventional method for producing a sulfenimide by reacting a sulfenamide with an acid.nSOLUTION: A method for producing sulfenimide, comprising reacting sulfenamide in a slurry state in an organic solvent immiscible with water with an acid to produce a solvent slurry containing a sulfenimide product. The product is recovered from the solvent slurry by a method involving the addition of water to the solvent slurry and separation of the product by a single filtration step. While water is added to the solvent slurry, an azeotrope of the solvent and water is formed under reduced pressure until substantially all of the solvent is separated from the product and the product becomes part of the aqueous slurry. It may be distilled. Alternatively, water is added to the solvent slurry while stirring the resulting mixture, and then the mixture is filtered in a single filtration step to recover the product from the mixture.
