(57) [Summary]nDiscrete multi-tone stacked carrier spread spectrum communication methods are based on multiple frequency domain spreading of baseband signals by superimposed or stacked complex sinusoidal carriers. In a preferred form, spreading involves energizing bins of a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). This can save considerable complexity in calculating the proper output FFT size. Point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-point (nodeless) network topologies are possible. Code nulling methods are introduced for interference cancellation and enhanced signal separation by exploiting the spectral spread of various sources. The basic method can be extended to include a multi-element antenna array nulling method for interference cancellation and enhancement signal separation utilizing spatial separation. Such a method allows for directional and directional transmission systems that apply or are applicable in a wireless environment. Such systems are compatible with bandwidth on demand and higher order modulation formats and use highly adaptive algorithms. In a particular form, the spectral and spatial components of the adaptive weights are calculated in an integrated operation based on mathematical analysis during the spectral and spatial description of the airlink. |
