titleOfInvention | Modified cellulose fibers and fibrous webs containing these fibers |
abstract | (57) [Summary]nDisclosed is a modified cellulose fiber having a dry zero-span tensile index substantially lower than that of the corresponding unmodified cellulose fiber. Fibers having reduced dry zero span tension can provide a fiber structure having an improved hand as compared to fibers prepared with unmodified fibers. In particular, such modified fibers provide a fibrous structure with improved flexibility perceived as improved softness. The reduction in dry zero-span tensile is preferably achieved by reacting the fiber with one or more cellulase enzymes. The invention also relates to a fibrous structure having a density no greater than about 0.4 g / cc, wherein the fibrous structure has a dryness at least about 15% lower than the dry zero-span tensile index of the corresponding unmodified cellulose fiber. A modified cellulose fiber having a zero-span tensile index, wherein the fibrous structure is at least about 30% less flex module / unit dry than the flex module / unit dry tension of the fibrous structure prepared with the corresponding unmodified fiber. Has tension. |
