abstract (57) Abstract A high refractive index copolymer suitable for use as an ophthalmic device is disclosed. Copolymer contains: a) a two or more monomer of structure (I), wherein, X is H or CH 3; m is an 0; Y is absent, O , S or NR (where, R represents, H, CH 3, C n H 2n + 1 (n = 1~10), be a iso -OC 3 H 7, C 6 H 5 or CH 2 C 6 H 5 ; or Ar is can be unsubstituted or, H, CH 3, C 2 H 5, n-C 3 H 7, iso -C 3 H 7, OCH 3, C 6 H 1 1, Cl, Br, C 6 H 5 or CH 2 C 6 H 5 is any aromatic ring) which may be substituted with; and b) the total to about 5 mol% or less of one or more monomers of structure (II), wherein in, X is H or CH 3; W is, -CH 3 or (CH 2 = C (-X) -C (= O) -) be; and n is a weight average molecular weight of about 6 0 to 1000 (when W is -CH 3) and about 400 to 1000 (W is (CH 2 = C (-X) -C (= O) -) when a) to be made such n.
