(57) [Summary]nHemoglobin conjugates, useful as hemoglobin-based oxygen carriers, react hemoglobin with oxidatively opened polysaccharides such as hydroxyethyl starch or dextran, and after conjugation, convert the resulting conjugate to a lower molecular weight product. It is prepared by storing it under conditions that allow it. The conjugate is then reductively stabilized to form a secondary amino bond between hemoglobin and the polysaccharide and is formulated as HBOC. |
