abstract | (57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to relatively short peptides, about 25-40 residues in length, or analogs to the naturally available peptides, which are naturally available in trace amounts in the venom of the mussel, comprising three cyclized disulfides. It contains a bond and one or more gamma-carboxyglutamic acid residues. More specifically, the present invention provides a compound of the general formula (I): Xaa described herein. 1 -Cys-Xaa Two -Cys-Xaa Three −Xaa Four -Cys-Cys-Xaa Five -Cys-Xaa 6 -Cys-Xaa 7 (SEQ ID NO: 1); or represented by the general formula (II): Xaa described in the present specification. 1 -Cys-Xaa Two -Cys-Xaa Three −Xaa Four -Cys-Cys-Xaa Five −Xaa 6 -Cys-Xaa 7 -Cys-Xaa 8 (SEQ ID NO: 2); or represented by the general formula (III): Xaa described in the present specification. 1 -Cys-Xaa Two -Cys-Xaa Three −Xaa Four −Xaa Five -Cys-Cys-Ser-Asn-Ser-Cys-Asp-Xaa 6 -Cys-Xaa 7 (SEQ ID NO: 3); or a compound represented by the general formula (IV): Xaa described in the present specification. 1 -Cys-Xaa Two -Cys-Xaa Three −Xaa Four −Xaa Five -Cys-Cys-Ser-Asn-Ser-Cys-Asp-Xaa 6 -Cys-Xaa 7 (SEQ ID NO: 4); or, general formula (V) described in the present specification: Xaa 1 −Xaa Two -Cys-Xaa Three −Xaa Four -Phe-Xaa Five -Cys-Thr-Xaa 6 −Ser−Xaa 7 -Cys-Cys-Ser-Asn-Ser-Cys-Asp-Gln-Thr-Tyr-Cys-Xaa 8 -Leu-Xaa 9 (SEQ ID NO: 5).
