(57) Abstract: The present invention relates to a heart capable of producing various cell types including cardiac cells, fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, skeletal muscle cells, keratinocytes, osteoblasts and chondrocytes during proliferation and differentiation. Derived pluripotent stem cells are provided. The cells can be used in methods of treating patients suffering from cardiac cell necrosis. Stem cells proliferate and differentiate to produce heart cells that replace necrotic tissue. Cells can also be used to screen compounds for activity in promoting the growth and / or differentiation of heart-derived stem cells. |
