(57) [Summary]nThe process of the present invention comprises first producing dimethylnaphthalenes in an alkylation zone by contacting a toluene-containing stream with a pentene-containing stream at alkylation conditions in the presence of an acid alkylation catalyst. At least a portion of the toluene reacts with the pentenes to form pentyl toluenes. At least a portion of the pentyl toluenes is then contacted with the reforming catalyst in a reforming zone at reforming conditions. At least a portion of the pentyl toluenes is converted to dimethyl naphthalenes. |
