abstract | A high nitrogen non-azide gas composition useful for inflating an occupant's safety gas inflation bag is a non-metal salt fuel of triazole or tetrazole, phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) as a first oxidant. , A metallic second oxidant, and an inert component such as clay or mica. The combination of these components results in a relatively more stable and less explosive gas generant, having improved ignitability and satisfactory burn rates, and sustained through the various combustion pressures at the expander level. A gas generant that has combustion and produces more gas and less solids than known gas generant compositions. |
