abstract Abstract: Disclosed are 2'-fluoronucleoside compounds useful in the treatment of hepatitis B infection, hepatitis C infection, HIV and aberrant cell proliferation, such as terminology and cancer. The compounds have the general formulas (I), (II), (III), (IV), wherein the base is a purine or pyrimidine base; R 1 is OH, H, OR 3 , N 3 , CN R 2 is H, phosphate, halogen, eg, F, or CF 3 , lower alkyl, amino, lower alkylamino, di (lower) alkylamino, or alkoxy; and the base means a purine or pyrimidine base; Prodrugs of, for example, monophosphate, diphosphate, triphosphate, or stabilized phosphate; acyl, or other pharmaceutically acceptable leaving group, which when administered in vivo, R 2 is H or phosphate. Compounds can be provided); sulfonate esters, such as alkyl or arylalkyl sulfonates For example, methanesulfonyl, benzyl (where the phenyl group may be substituted with one or more substituents as described in the definition of aryl above), lipid, amino acid, peptide or cholesterol. Yes; and R 3 is an acyl, alkyl, phosphate, or other pharmaceutically acceptable leaving group, which can be cleaved to the parent compound when administered in vivo.
