(57) [Summary]nThe present invention is directed to low VOC curable coating compositions that are suitable for use in a variety of surface wear and corrosion resistant coatings, such as automotive coatings. The binder of the composition comprises a silicon / hydroxyl component and a crosslinking component. The silicon / hydroxyl component has a linear or branched alicyclic moiety and a functional group having at least two functional groups, at least one of which is a silane or silicate group and the remainder is a hydroxyl group. Including one or more reactive oligomers. Applicants have surprisingly found that the inclusion of silane or silicate functionality in these reactive oligomers can significantly increase the solids concentration of the composition while reducing the viscosity of the composition.
