(57) [Summary]nThrough extraction of a mixture consisting mainly of aminophosphonium catalyst residue (s) and heavy ends from a halogen exchange reaction carried out in an aprotic solvent / diluent with a neutral or acidic aqueous extraction medium It has been found that a catalytically active aminophosphonium catalyst can be separated from the mixture. Various methods are described for isolating the aminophosphonium catalyst residue (s) and the mixture mainly composed of heavy ends from the product mixture of such halogen exchange reactions. Also described is a halogen exchange method for separating and reusing such catalytically active aminophosphonium catalyst. Due to the high cost of aminophosphonium catalysts, there is a need for an effective method that allows such catalysts to be recovered in catalytically active form and allows such materials to be reused, especially as halogen exchange catalysts. However, the technique of the present method satisfies such a need. |
