abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide plate having high surface smoothness, having sufficient strength to have self-supporting property, without bubble swelling or warpage due to stress generation. SOLUTION: A polyimide precursor solution or a polyimide solution is cast on a support surface, and a part of the solvent is removed at a temperature equal to or lower than the boiling point of the solvent contained in the solution to improve the self-supporting property of the polyimide precursor or polyimide. The obtained solvent-containing plate is separated from the support, and the separated solvent-containing plate is heated to a temperature not lower than the boiling point of the solvent and not higher than the substantial decomposition temperature of polyimide.
