abstract An object of the present invention is to minimize coating loss, prevent the occurrence of a thick film at the start of coating and at the end of coating, reduce liquid retention inside the coater, and maintain the coating for a long time. An object of the present invention is to provide a coating method and a coating apparatus which prevent deterioration in performance and coating film quality during coating. SOLUTION: In a method in which a coating liquid is quantitatively supplied from at least one place to a manifold of a coating die, the coating liquid is discharged from a slit, and the coating die is applied close to a running support, the coating die is supported. Waiting at a position away from the body, supplying a coating liquid at a flow rate equivalent to the coating to the manifold, moving the coating die while discharging the coating liquid from at least one portion of the manifold, and from the manifold when reaching the coating position. Coating liquid discharging of the coating liquid is stopped to start coating.
