[PROBLEMS] To provide a novel bioluminescence assay and a bacterial strain useful therein. The present invention relates to a novel assay for assessing the extent to which cells are metabolically active. At the same time, a mutagenicity assay is provided, more specifically a method of determining whether the agent in question is a genotoxic agent. An embodiment of the assay is based on the determination that the presence of the test agent is the DN of the microorganism or cell. Bacteria or mammals that have been genetically altered to produce a light in the event of a mutation in A, such as a reversion or forward mutation, are used. |
