titleOfInvention Thin film magnetic head and method of manufacturing the same
abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a thin-film magnetic head having a Gd determining layer and a lower magnetic pole layer formed integrally with a lower core layer, to simultaneously reduce the gap depth and suppress the generation of sidelight. Could not be resolved. In the present invention, even if the gap depth (Gd) is shortened, at least a part of the lower magnetic pole layer (22) on the recording medium facing surface side does not protrude from both sides of the upper magnetic pole layer (25). Side end faces 22 of the lower magnetic pole layer 22 a is formed as the same surface as both end surfaces 25a of the upper magnetic pole layer 25. With this configuration, it is possible to appropriately promote the narrowing of Gd, to suppress the side light, and to provide a structure of the thin film magnetic head having excellent reproduction characteristics.
