(57) Abstract: An optical filter that has excellent antireflection performance for preventing reflection of external light in an image display device, reduces the intensity of emitted infrared light, and improves color purity. Further, the present invention provides an image display device which maintains its strength even when the front glass is removed using this optical filter, realizes weight reduction and cost reduction, and is excellent in the above-mentioned performance. An optical filter having a visible light absorbing layer containing a dye on a transparent support, wherein the optical filter has a wavelength of 580 nm or more. The absorption maximum is in the range of 10 nm or less, the transmittance of the maximum is 10% or more and 35% or less, and 540 nm. The average transmittance of 45% or more and 65% or less of 560 nm or more and less than 580 nm is 35% or more. And an image display device using the same. |
