The base paper includes cellulose pulp and an inorganic pigment as main components, and an ink receptive coating layer formed on one surface of the base paper and including fine particle synthetic silica and a resin adhesive as main components. And an ink jet recording paper characterized in that the base paper contains a flame retardant.
