abstract (57) [Problem] To provide an image forming apparatus in which an adverse effect on image formation due to overlapping of colors is reduced. An image forming apparatus having an image forming unit having a limited number of colors that can be used for color image formation and capable of writing a plurality of spots inside one pixel. When two or more colors exist inside, two spots are used for one spot using the writing position control means 106. The image forming unit 2 is controlled so that the writing positions for each color are made different from each other inside the one pixel so that colors higher than the colors do not overlap.
