abstract | [PROBLEMS] To provide a modified polyethylene terephthalate capable of forming a hollow molded container suitable for use in filling a liquid such as a beverage with high productivity, and a method for producing the same. The modified polyethylene terephthalate comprises: (A) Polyethylene terephthalate obtained by subjecting an esterified product of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol to a polycondensation reaction in a molten state and (B) polyethylene terephthalate containing a metal compound are both introduced into a mixer in a molten state. After that, the mixture is stirred and mixed to form a metal compound-containing polyethylene terephthalate, and then the metal compound-containing polyethylene terephthalate is granulated into chips, and the chip-shaped metal compound-containing polyethylene terephthalate obtained as necessary is mixed with the metal compound-containing polyethylene. It is obtained by heating to a temperature lower than the melting point of polyethylene terephthalate forming terephthalate to increase the intrinsic viscosity of the polyethylene terephthalate. |
