(57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To prevent propagation of oxidative damage of DNA. SOLUTION: In normal DNA oxidation, a hole is formed on a guanine base which is most susceptible to oxidation among DNA bases, and the generated hole moves guanine base along a stepping stone in the DNA, "G hopping". The mechanism causes oxidative damage to propagate (A). On the other hand, when cyclopropylguanosine (cpG) according to the present invention is introduced into DNA, holes generated by oxidation are captured by cpG, No further propagation occurs (B). |
