abstract (57) Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, an excessive amount of toner at a rising portion of an edge and a blur of a toner at a falling portion of an edge, which are generated based on a sheet passing direction, are eliminated. In an image forming apparatus, a rising part and a falling part of an edge are detected by a detecting unit based on a direction in which a conveying unit conveys a sheet to a transferring unit. The correction data adding means is configured to output 1 in the paper passing direction of the pixel at the rising portion of the edge detected by the detecting means. Predetermined correction data is added to the previous pixel and the next pixel in the falling part.
